Wedding Magazines

Being a florist I love reading wedding magazines. It has always been a special ritual, that when a new magazine comes out, I dedicate the evening to reading the magazine cover to cover. I try not to peek before this time but I always do. Some of my favorite wedding magazines are Martha Stewart Weddings and Ceremony.

I love these 2 magazines because they have a lot of pictures of wedding flowers and not a lot of filler (ads and such).

Today I got out of my Biology Lab a little early. It was not the most pleasant class, we had to dissect. So I decided to treat myself to a trip to Barnes and Noble. Well, low and behold, the Martha Stewart magazine was out. I was thrilled. I picked one up and now I am sitting on the couch relaxing and reading it cover to cover.

I Love to Travel!! Travel + Leisure Magazine Giveaway

Who doesn't love to travel?!? And the prefect time to travel is right now, during the beautiful summer months. Unfortunately for me, the timing is not right and I do not get to go on a vacation until next year. My husband and I went on a long, expensive honeymoon last fall, so we need to save up our resources. But let me tell you , when we do go, it will be an excellent, well planned trip!!

So for all of us non-travelers this summer, let's drool over this great magazine, Travel+Leisure. This magazine is helping me narrow down where we would like to go...well, maybe.. I love to look at all the gorgeous pictures and day dream about going to all the exotic locals the write about. They also have neat articles about places to eat while on vacation. I was just looking at their website and they have an article on ice cream parlors. Delicious!!

Sorry, I am getting a bit side tracked here. Can you tell I am drooling over the ice cream?

Family Date Night

Both of my parents are at work with me today. My mom works with me but I am not sure why my dad is here. I think he was helping someone move things in our building. I guess before my dad came over here, he went to the Blood Bank to give blood. He was showing me and my mom the prizes he could get if he gave blood 3 more times. All of this reminded me of my dad's favorite Friday night, date night. I think I was about 9 and my sister was about 2. We would all go to pick my dad up from work, he liked leaving his truck there over the weekend. To me it seems like ever Friday but it was probably more like ever 2 months, he would suggest we would go to the blood bank. My sister and I loved this because it meant we would get to eat all you could eat donuts while my dad was giving blood. My mom hated going to the blood bank. She coined it "The Slob Family Goes to the Blood Bank". My sister was filthy, and my mom was sloppy because she was not expecting to go anywhere other than home. My sis and I, especially my sis, would run around like half starved children, eating as much treats and junk as we could. What a joyous time!! We loved it and today I still reminisce about going to the Blood Bank.

Laura's Brownies

Last week, I received an email from Melinda Joy's blog that I was the lucky winner of a small tin of Laura's Brownies. Well, when I showed up at work this morning, there was my package from Laura. Let me just say they were delicious. I received the caramel brownies, which have a layer of both caramel and chocolate chips. Heavenly!! I gave one to an employee and she said they were the best brownies she has ever tasted. So head over to Laura's website and pick yourself up some brownies. She also sells biscotti which I would love to try.

Bath And Body Works Semi-Annual Sale

Who doesn't love the Bath and Body Works semi-annual sale. I love it!! My friend gave me a generous gift card several months back and I saved it until the sale started. Yeah!! Cinnamon Rolls, Cotton Candy, Turkey Legs....Oh My

Oh....How I love the Del Mar Fair. (Sorry guys, I know that is not it's real name but it will always be the Del Mar Fair to me.) I can't wait to indulge in all that fat fried goodness. What to eat first?? Who can decide? I guess I will just have to eat everything I see.

My family and I will venture to the fair tomorrow. My brother-n-law and I want to eat everything in sight and my sister-in-law wants to go on all the rides. My DH is just along for the ride. Isn't it nice to be married to someone that goes along with the flow?

Hopefully, I will have pictures to share once I wake from my fried food stupor. :)

Let's get this blog started!! - Closed

Summer is almost here!! So that means flip flops, shorts and bright, tropical colors. It also means we all need bright colored toe nails. One of my favorite nail polishes is OPI I love all of their colors and how they last. I was talking about their polish with my sis and she asked what all the big hype was....well if I paint my toes with OPI nail polish, the polish lasts twice as long as a store brand nail polish. So she went out and bought herself a bottle.

Can you tell I love the orange colors? This is the one color that screams summer (well and hot pink). I can't resist Conga-line Coral, Charmed by a snake, Lunch at the Delhi and a ton of others. I think I am in love!!

Garage Sale, How I Love Thee

Or at least I think I do...well maybe not. Today my parents and I had a garage sale. I love the idea of having one. You might think I am crazy but I have always loved getting up early for a garage sale, having a fancy coffee and a bad for you breakfast like donuts or muffins. However, once that first hour is over the love is gone. You spend so much time putting everything out and then you have to lug most of it back in. I think we made $120.00 for 9 hours of work. I spent my share on gas. :( Maybe I don't love garage sales as much as I thought.

My New Favorite Things

My husband and I recently went to Grass Valley, Ca for a wedding. Beautiful!! When strolling around the town we stumbled across an awesome fabric store, Fabrics on Mill St., www.fabricsonmillst.com If you are ever there, stop by and take a look. They also have several items on their website or you can call them direct and they will ship items too you.

While at this store, I found a set of quilting blocks that I LOVE!! Wonderland by Moda. It has bright, colorful patterns that scream HAPPY. I am in the process of making a baby quilt. It is definitely not your traditional baby colors but I am not into baby pink or baby blue.
